We’re excited to announce three Matterlab sessions at SXSW EDU this year! All three sessions feature Matterlab clients, and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to help their work shine.

Reimagining Funding & Support as a Team of One | March 5 @ 2:30 pm

Featuring Mike Gonzalez with the Rural Schools Innovation Zone
How do you make an impact without a team, without a budget for staff, and without buy-in? Hear from two leaders as they discuss how they formed a unique team to innovate, grow, and accomplish incredible goals together. The discussion will focus on a rural education collaborative but is applicable to any team of one that is looking to transform from a solo operator with minimal local backing to emerging as a recognized national example. The conversation will highlight the crucial role played by external technical assistance providers who had to be dedicated executives without an internal team. Learn more →

Citywide Change Starts with Early Childhood Education | March 7 @ 10 am

Featuring Cynthia Jasso with the George Kaiser Family Foundation & Brianna Harris with the Child Poverty Action Lab
Why focus on early childhood education? And why is that not enough? Hear how leaders in Tulsa are ensuring every child born there is healthy and thriving and how a coalition in Dallas is working together to cut child poverty rates in half in a single generation. As you’ll learn from this panel, these strategies can be applied to any cause in any place. Attendees will leave with ideas for enacting change in their own communities, starting with our youngest learners. Learn more →

Who Is Your Organization as a Friend? | March 7 @ 11 am

Featuring Michelle Oliva with EduDream

Led by an edu-focused comms agency, a superintendent, and an education research firm, this workshop unearths participants’ org identity and guides the development of a new, mission-aligned elevator pitch, in real time.
